Dr. Walter Rick Bukata is one of the founding fathers of emergency physician and a distinguished physician. He completed the EM residence at Los Angeles County / USC Medical Center in 1975. Prior to that, he was in the Indian Health Service for two years (was the doctor for the tribe at the bottom of the Grand Canyon for a year). He was in the first group of trained emergency physicians to obtain a staffing contract at Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys, CA. He started an emergency medicine abstracting service in 1977 and began doing literature-focused courses for doctors in 1985. He has since put on hundreds in addition to at least another 150 for PAs, NPs and both emergency and primary care clinicians. He was the recipient of the ACEP Education Award in 1993. He was director of the ED at San Gabriel Valley Medical Center for 25 years. He has been the Medical Director of the Center for Medical Education (CCME) since 1977. He continues to actively develop educational programs for clinicians.

Dr. Bukata it's truly a legend in emergency medicine. His courses with CCME are well known nationally, and he has received numerous awards for his work. His extensive CV has a detailed history of his medical legal work as well as his critical care, emergency and hospital care experience.
